Proco was founded by René Hartmann, who spent 17 years in corporate procurement—including winning a Global Innovation Award at Novo Nordisk for procurement innovation. René saw firsthand how broken supplier selection was for mid-sized organisations: too small for formal procurement teams, too large for informal three-quote processes, and stuck with tools designed for enterprises they’d never become. Proco was built with a small team in Stellenbosch to fix that gap.
